As the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia has extremely high quality requirements for coffee roasting. Last year, a well-known local coffee exporter purchased a 100kg commercial coffee roaster from our factory. After more than half a year of stable operation, it has become the core equipment of its boutique coffee production line, empowering the upgrading of the African coffee industry with Chinese smart manufacturing.
This roaster is a special model customized for the characteristics of Ethiopian coffee beans. Coffee beans from local production areas such as Yirgacheffe and Sidamo are known for their delicate flavors such as floral fragrance and citrus acid, and have strict requirements on the accuracy of roasting temperature. The dual closed-loop temperature control system equipped with the equipment has a temperature adjustment accuracy of ±0.5℃, which can perfectly control the shallow roasting range of 175-190℃ – this temperature can not only stimulate the jasmine fragrance of coffee beans, but also retain the fresh fruit acid, which meets the flavor standards of local boutique coffee.
The roasting uniformity that customers are most concerned about has been fully verified. The color uniformity of the trial-baked Yirgacheffe coffee beans was 98% after screening and testing, which is much higher than the 85% of local traditional equipment. This is due to the 360° hot air circulation system and adjustable speed drum design of the equipment. The hot air penetrates each layer of coffee beans, avoiding the bitter taste caused by local overheating, so that each coffee bean can release its true flavor.
In view of the power conditions in Ethiopia, the equipment is specially equipped with a wide voltage adaptation module (200-440V) to cope with power grid fluctuations; the insulation layer is made of high-temperature resistant materials, which can still maintain a stable baking temperature in an outdoor environment of 40°C, and the energy consumption is reduced by 25% compared with the original local equipment. The 10-inch touch screen is equipped with a local language operation interface and built-in 20 sets of exclusive baking curves for Ethiopian production areas, so operators can quickly get started without professional experience.
“The coffee roasted with this machine has won the recognition of international buyers at the London Coffee Show, and the order volume has increased by 30%.” The customer manager reported in an email that the equipment has been running without any failures so far, and the remote diagnosis service provided by China has responded quickly, solving their worries. At present, these roasted coffee beans have entered high-end markets such as Europe and North America, and the premium space has increased by 15%.
